Electronics Engineer - Mainly on-site working (Filton - Bristol)

AKKA are looking for Electronics Engineers to join our project teams in Bristol to support existing Landing Gear and Fuel Avionic Test Benches.

This role will be hybrid with an expectation of predominantly being onsite in Bristol. This is a permanent position as part of the AKKA team, and is available immediately.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Using existing test rig electrical drawings  to fault find on existing rigs
  • Supporting the test benches by troubleshooting electrical issues, then Investigate the issue to develop a solution
  • Support the testers in carrying out certain tests with diagnostic equipment e.g. oscilloscopes, DVM's, etc.
  • Tackling small modifications to the test rigs to support upcoming test campaigns
  • Assessing simple modification requirements from design office/test team and developing a suitable solution
  • Updating or creating new drawings, wiring diagrams and wiring lists
  • Liaising with the onsite team or external supplier to implement/build the solution
  • Documenting & Commissioning of the test rig design/modification solution

 

Reactive support

  • Resolve problems & design solutions on test rigs

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED 

  •  Minimum basic electronic circuit design knowledge using relay logic, diodes, resistors, capacitors, PC based digital inputs and outputs
  • Experience in fault finding of electronic components & circuits
  • Understanding of Electrical & Electronic Design (ESSENTIAL) and Electrical Systems
  • Basic understanding of simple Mechanical Design
  • Being able to produce electrical and mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and being autonomous in this
  • Reasonable Knowledge of Excel & Word
  • Basic Knowledge of Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets)
  • Basic Microsoft Visio experience: (desirable but not essential)
  • Basic Understanding of Fuel and/or Landing Gear Systems is beneficial (not mandatory) – training will be provided
  • Very basic understanding of Arinc 429 and AFDX network communication (not mandatory)
  • Apprenticeship or other formal Engineering Education. (Preferable but not essential)
  • Experience working with test rigs (ideally)
  • Experience working with modification & design requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working as part of a team with the ability of working autonomously
